ABOUT ME

My name is Steve Madeja, and I'm a history buff and licensed New York City tour guide. I've lived in various parts of New York for almost 10 years now, and I currently live in Harlem with my wife and 2-year-old puppy, Shaggy. No, I'm not a native Manhattanite - I grew up in a small town near the Canadian border - but as E.B. White said in his 1948 essay Here is New York, "Commuters give the city its tidal restlessness, natives give it solidity and continuity, but the settlers give it passion."

 

When not giving tours, you'll often find me in one of New York's many fine museums, used bookstores, or dive bars.
